Hi guys!

I’m feeling a little down today :/ The reason for that is because today I got some bad news at work. To make a long story short; I won’t have a job to go to next week. It’s not because I got fired, but the thing is that I was only there as an intern and today I was told that the internship will end at the end of this week!… Yeah, it was super-short notice, but it was because of an “human error”, so I can’t really be mad at anyone.
I guess I could see it from the bright side – now I’ll have more time to work on the comic! But, on the other hand, if I can’t pay for food and rent.. well, you get the idea (>_< )
Ah well, I’m not the only one to be unemployed and broke these days – far from it!

To all of you who are also unemployed: Everything will be alright, sometimes you just have to give things time and N-E-V-E-R give up (<– this is the most important part to remember)! Better times are coming, friends. Just hang in there!

Hi guys! Here I am with another sparkling new page of ‘Pierre the Baking Cat’. Can you feel the suspense building up yet? hehe >:)

I made some small changes to the site just now:

- Added small ‘Project Wonderful’ ad-spaces at the top of the site.
- Made the ‘Donate’ and ‘Buy Stuff’ buttons smaller and moved them down a bit.
- I’ll see if I can make a so-called “Favicon” for the site tonight. I don’t know why I haven’t done this earlier, but I think it’s about time now! It doesn’t do much, but it’s a nice touch, right? :p

Yeah, that’s about it :) Is there anything that YOU still misses on this website? Perhaps there’s something that you wish could be changed or added to make the site look better or whatever, drop me a line if you have any suggestions okay? (^w ^*)

Wazzup everyone!?

I don’t really have that much to add, except that I’ve uploaded some updated Claude art in the Characters section (it’s at the very bottom of the page so you’ll have to scroll down) :p
Eventually I’ll make new art for all the characters, but I don’t know when it’ll be done, so you’ll just have to be patient!

What else? Hmm… Well, yesterday I finished one of the hardest Nintendo games I’ve ever played; Ghosts n’ Goblins for Famicom!
You can almost hear the game producers laughing at you when you’re playing it – that’s how HARD it is! Of course I had to use continues to be able to beat it two times, but I can at least come to level 5 without dying. When I first got the game, couldn’t get past level 2 so… yeah, “practice makes perfect” I guess :)

I’ve also discovered that if you’re getting tired of listening to music while drawing, you can always open up some random video blog on YouTube and listen to that instead. It’s actually kind of refreshing! I like to listen to this guy. He’s doing video game walkthroughs with commentaries and he’s quite fun to listen to. Highly recommended!

“How do someone get tired of listening to music?”, you might ask. Well, if you’re like me and often listen to the same songs over and over again, you know what I mean! ;p As long as there’s something in the background, I’m happy.

Hi everyone, here’s page 24 at last!

This site has got about 50% new visitors and equally as many returning visitors at the moment. This has got me thinking… Wouldn’t it be nice for new visitors to be able to choose whether they want to start reading the comic from the start, or from the last page posted?
If I bought a comic at the store, I know that I wouldn’t like someone to tell me how the story ended before I had started reading – I’d want to read it from the start, of course!

With the current setting, when someone enters the site, they get to see the last page posted. This comic will eventually come to it’s end some day and when the last page is up, that’s what both new and returning visitors will see when they open the site.
SO… I was thinking about presenting the visitor with a choice when they open the site; do you want to read the comic from the start, or from the last page posted?

I think I’m actually going to go through with this. How about you? What kind of setup do you have on your webcomic? What do you think of this idea of mine?

Hi everyone!

I can’t remember how long it was since I last updated the comic, but I think it was like, 3-4 weeks ago! Sorry about that… (^_^;) Hopefully I’ll get more time to spend on the comic now when Christmas is over.
The next comic page will actually act as the half-way mark through the comic! I estimate the whole story to be around 48 pages, so there’s still a lot to be said and done – but I’ll get there!

This page will present two (almost ) new characters to you! Chloe and Claude.
They actually made a small appearance on page 6 already, but at the time I drew that page they had a slightly different design. I’m still thinking about changing that page later, to make them look like they do now, but I haven’t decided yet.
Many people have told me that they look like Team Rocket from Pokemon (-_-;)
I’ve watched/played a lot of Pokemon too and I know what Team Rocket look like, so I know what people are saying.
With the new design I tried to make them look less like Team Rocket and more like the other Blup Valley citizens. The biggest change probably lies in their height, because if you look at them at page 6 you can clearly see that they are like twice the size of everyone else! Why did I make them like this? Probably because I wanted them to:
1) Be different from Pierre in any way possible, and
2) look really, really evil! >:)

But then I was thinking “So why REALLY are they taller than the other characters?” Are they from a different country? Are they of a different species?
I couldn’t think of any logical/interesting reason for this, so I opted to make them the same height as the other characters. Did I make the right choice?…

I don’t know when the next comic page will be ready, but I’ve sketched out about 85% of it, so it’s in-the-works!

Hi!

I was supposed to post this page yesterday, but I was still a little unsure about the script and needed a second opinion – so I asked my big sister about it and she helped me back on the right track (^ ^ ) She’s a very talented artist, by the way. So why don’t you check out Cecilia Elfving’s website here. Oh, and she works only with aquarelle, so her style is completely different from mine, just to let you know :p
Anyways, sometimes I take my work too serious and end up having trouble with deciding on what to do. A true perfectionist’s dilemma, indeed (^_^ ;)

Speaking about the script, I can tell you that there’s a very high chance of me changing the comic’s epilogue… again! :/ But relax, because I’m doing this for a reason, and it’ll only help the comic make more sense! Trust me. And with the new epilogue, I can actually get rid of pages 2,3 and 4 as everything you need to know about he story will be covered by the new intro.

Oh, and when I have some time over (I wish) I’m going to prepare some link banners that you can use if you ever want to link to this site. I’ll tweet about it when it’s ready (’> ‘ )

Hi everyone!

Sorry about the delay, but I’ve been a little tired from work lately and this page had a little more detail than usual. I actually build Pierre’s whole store in 3D to be able to get the right mood in that lower right panel! I think it turned out nice, don’t you think?

If you haven’t checked out the ‘Characters’ section lately, you should! Because I added two new-ish characters there this week – namely Missy and Ms. Denise! And, as I wrote on my twitter, I’ll probably redraw the other characters as well to get a fresh new look on them too.

One more thing, I’m thinking about making a so-called “fan page” for this comic on Facebook … but the problem is that I don’t know exactly what I would do with it after (^,^;) Ah well, I guess I could just create one to begin with and see where it goes from there? I’ll twit about it when it’s done! :D

Well, it’s Saturday and it’s cold and windy outside … guess I’ll just have to spend my whole day drawing and drinking tea, yay! :p Man, I haven’t played any video-games in AGES … it’s time to change that!! (*-* )

Hi all!

It’s done … at last … uh … so … tired.. ahhhh … (-_- )
Man! I tell you this page was NOT FUN to do. I don’t know why, but somehow it managed to take at least twice as long to get this done, than any other page I’ve done. And I had such problems deciding what to put in the panel at the top!! (This is the main reason why it took so long).

I had two alternatives that I was looking at. Both of them seemed okay. None of them seemed to be better than the other. So what do you do!?
Well, you kind of have to think AGAIN and really think about which one serves it’s purpose best.

I ultimately chose to draw it the way you see (kind of a close-up on the villagers) because I wanted the reader to be able to see the faces of those angry villagers better.
In the other alternative I was going to draw Pierre from behind, looking out of his window. The reader would be able to see the villagers here to, but from a greater distance.

I actually made 3D models of the second alternative, to help me with the perspective and camera angles and stuff. I’m gonna use 3D a lot more than I have until now, because it can really help me get an even more professional look on the pictures.

Yep, here it is. Page 20, just like I promised :)

You see that cool picture of that house? The one with the sun rays? Yeah … I made that in 3D. A neat little program named SketchUp helped me out there. It’s free you know …
So, can you call it “cheating”, when you use programs to help you do stuff you can really do by hand? … Hell No.

I chose to use 3D to:
1. Save time.
2. Get the perspective right and
3. Be able to choose a camera-angle that would fit the purpose, without having to redraw again and again until I finally get it right.

You think THAT’S bad? How about if I told you I used 3D for the lower left panel as well? Uh Huh!? Yeah!

The bottom line is, if it will help you make a better product, or you just want to save time or whatever, use whatever means necessary and do it! … Just don’t be stupid and tell everyone about it afterwards (like I just did) … Hah! Naaah, I’m just kidding :p

Anywho, it’s getting late and I’M going to bed now, sooo I’ll see you! お休み！(That’s Japanese and it says ‘Oyasumi’).

Believe it or not, but the panel I had the hardest time drawing in this page, was the one in the top left corner.
For some reason, I find it hard to draw these characters from an angle and make it look good :s Luckily I was able to get it to look alright and I’m pleased with the result. This is by no means an extreme angle, just a little lower than usual … maybe I’m the only one to notice it? Ah well.

I’m actually thinking about making low-poly models of the characters in 3D, to help me with stuff like this in the future. And also because I would like to see how they would turn out :p

Ah! speaking of 3D, I completely forgot that I actually made some stuff in 3D for the following page 20, to help me with the perspective and stuff. I’ll explain more when it gets posted.
