Hi there!

Wow this was a hard one! As you might have guessed, the windmill was the hardest part in this page! (^_^;)
My trick to get it right (at least I think I did), was to draw the “sails”, which I think they’re called, on a separate paper, seen from the front.
I then held the paper with the sails, in an angle that would represent the one in the panel, and looked at it with one eye shut. Then I put it down, and drew it in the panel.
I COULD have just scanned the picture and used my Photoshop magic to paste it into the panel, but I wanted to do it by hand, because I want to get better at drawing, and I think that hard work is good when you try to learn stuff. Yeah … (^.^)v

To change subject, I’ve just completed a long musical journey through Japan.
Well, not really, but almost ;)
I lived in Japan from August 1999 until the summer of 2000, and then again from September 2002 to the beginning of December 2006.
I heard lots of good music while I was there, and I’ve never really owned those songs, not even on mp3, well some of them maybe, but not all of them.
Then I got this crazy idea about four days ago, that I should hunt down and add all those songs I had heard to one massive playlist – on YouTube!
So I did that. I searched for all songs that I had heard, that had stuck in my head, for one reason or another, and made one big playlist of it!
Of course, keeping all those songs for myself would be no fun, so now I’m happy to present to you all …

J-Pop 2000

Ok, it’s not as fancy as it sounds, but it took quite a while to find all of them (there are 57 songs at the moment) and I had to do some research to find some of them, hehe (^v^ ) But it was great fun! There are many different styles of music there, so I think that there’s something for everyone.

I’ve now finally joined a couple of affiliate/advertising services, or what you call them, and my biggest problem now is – where do I put those ads!?
I think ads should be placed where they can be somewhat noticed, but don’t conflict with the overall look of the website. And of course they should be as less annoying as possible.
Putting some ads on the site will, hopefully, generate some revenue, which could be used for buying art supplies and uhm, food? lol… My goal/dream is to be able to work on the comic full-time. I know it’s probably a veery long journey until that will be possible. But if the comic keeps growing the way it’s been lately, I don’t think it’s entirely impossible. Except for the ads you can, of course, help out by donating!
Even the tiniest amounts are welcome! (^w^ )

In other news.. I had my first interview!! \(^O^)/
No joke, I was actually interviewed by the local paper and got to tell everyone about my comic! It was great! But I hate the picture they took of me, I look wierd… gaah! (>_<;) lol

Lastly, I got my very first fan-mail the other day (a big ‘Thank you!’ to the guy who sent it, you know who you are!). Like I said last week, making/managing/promoting a comic is hard work, but when you get feedback from people who like your work, it makes it all worth it! Keep ‘em coming! ( ‘_~)

Hello again!

Funny fact: If you take a look at the date under the comic is says “March 11th, 2009″, right?
The thing is, this page was not made until November 28th, 2009. And neither was this text! :p

“Why is this?”, you might think. Well, to tell you the truth, I’ve had some problems with deciding on a good prologue to this comic. In fact, this is my THIRD attempt – and this one’s a keeper! (+_+ ;)

The problem with the other two intros was that they didn’t really do a good job with introducing the reader to Pierre. When I made the other two intros, I kind of thought that it would be better if the reader learned about Pierre and his background as the story goes on.
I still don’t think that this is such a bad idea, but… maybe I overdid it? I still don’t have a good answer to that, but at least I feel that I’ve learned something from the process.

This time, I’ve put a lot more focus in Pierre and a little less focus on the world around him – and I hope it’ll “work” this time lol (^. ^ ;)

Funny fact 2: The original prologue spanned over page 1,2,3 and 4 – now there’s only 1 and 2. Clear and concise ftw!

Hello everyone and welcome to my webcomic ‘Pierre the Baking Cat’!

This is the first serious attempt at making a webcomic I’ve ever done. I don’t know much about anything that revolves making comics really, so I guess we’ll see how it goes :D The only thing I know is that it’s a lot of hard work and that I’ll have to be persistent and don’t give up! Don’t worry, I won’t! (^v ^ )

To the right you can see my Twitter-feed, here you can follow my progress with the comic between my posts here on the website. I’ll twit about stuff like how far I’ve come with the comic pages, what I’m doing at the moment and maybe post some useful or funny links from time to time.

Oh, and this comic reads from RIGHT to LEFT – Japanese style baby! (’ ▽ ‘ ) I know some of you are going to have a problem with this, but to my defence I can tell you it’s for a reason.

Except for wanting to tell you this story about Pierre, I’m also making this comic because I’m planning to enter contests with it; like the ‘Morning International Comic Competition’ for instance, which specifically welcome foreign comic creators.
There are other contests too (Japanese ones) that require your work to be in Japanese, black & white and of course, read from right to left…

As for me, it has become second nature to read this way. I lived in Japan for over 5 years, I have always loved manga and even now when I’m back home (in Sweden), if I go to the book store to pick up a manga, it still reads from right to left.
How about your country? Do the company that translates the manga also make it read from left to right?

Anyways, if you can live with the fact that the comic reads this way, and also that I’m a complete beginner at making comics I hope you’ll be able enjoy the comic as much as I enjoy making it!
